                Compressors, Condensers & Evaporators
CARRIER HAS LAUNCHED its new genera- tion of MiniCO2OL Caompact refrigeration units, specifically designed for convenience stores and supermarkets to increase efficiency, serviceability and provide faster delivery times to customers.
Carrier’s product management and marketing director, Gaël Grenat, said the new range is easier to configure, more cost effective and has all the benefits of using the natural refrigerant carbon dioxide (CO2).
“We estimate a reduced lead time of just six to seven weeks for the new models, providing
a huge benefit for installers and customers,” he said.
The new MiniCO2OL Compact line offers capacities of up to 190kW for medium tempera- ture applications and 56.5kW for low tempera- ture applications, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.
The units operate with a standard 60 bar of pressure and are supplied with a 188 litre receiver, which can be upgraded to 300 litres.
Key to the energy efficiency gains is the ability to reclaim heat for either tap water, central heat- ing, or both, where specified.

The new models are also available with the option of an advanced capacity control unit, enabling capacity modulation of between 10 and 100 per cent on the first medium tempera- ture compressor.
“By standardising and simplifying the range, we estimate we can address around 80 per cent of the demand we see in this sector,” Grenat said.
“We will continue to offer the customisable legacy MiniCO2OL design, ensuring a Carrier solution for every application.”
For maximum flexibility, the MiniCO2OL Compact unit is designed for operation with a wide range of controllers from multiple brands. Additional benefits include an open frame offering better access to components for maintenance, clearly identified cable trays, and a simplified control panel for ease of operation.
 Technology to reduce operational costs
EMERSON HAS UNVEILED novel Copeland CO2 scroll technology to significantly reduce operational costs, and maintenance.
This innovative solution for refrigeration sys- tems enables customers to significantly reduce their system and installation costs.
Emerson also provides customers with a solu- tion that capitalises on the use of CO2 as an envi- ronmentally friendly refrigerant, making an important contribution to addressing current and future challenges in commercial refrigeration.
Dynamic Vapor Injection (DVI) technology used in the new generation of Copeland CO2 scroll compressors enables CO2 refrigeration systems to operate easier and more efficiently in all climate zones.
Copeland compressors are extremely com- pact, lightweight, and quiet compared to equiv- alent semi-hermetic compressors commonly used in CO2 refrigeration.
In addition, the new CO2 scroll compressors are available in fixed and variable speed allowing for more flexibility and high efficiency thanks to brushless permanent magnet (BPM) motor tech- nology in combination with efficient drives.
Copeland compressors are extremely compact and lightweight.
This results in the compressor always operat- ing at optimal speed, rendering inefficient on- off operations obsolete.
Combining this new generation of Copeland CO2 scroll compressors with a smart electronics concept, Emerson provides a new solution for CO2 booster systems that enables reduced sys- tem complexity and costs while keeping effi- ciency high in any climate.
The resulting reduction of the previous CO2 cost premium will change the refrigeration
market by enabling the large-scale roll-out of CO2 refrigeration regardless of the climate.
Copeland CO2 scroll compressors feature three ranges of new generation for transcritical (medium temperature) and subcritical (low temperature) operations offering fixed and vari- able speed models. The compact and light- weight design of scroll compressors generate less noise and vibrations in refrigeration sys- tems, improving reliable and safe system opera- tion. This is particularly advantageous for use in noise-sensitive urban environments.
The new range of CO2 scroll compressors for medium temperature applications with fixed speed covers a capacity range from 8 to 19kW.
Equipped with a dedicated Brushless Permanent Magnet (BPM) motor, the variable speed models enable additional flexibility while maintaining high efficiency enlarging capacity from 4 up to 36kW. The compressors always operate at optimal speed, rendering inefficient on-off operations obsolete.
This Copeland CO2 scroll solution allows for applied cost savings up to 14 per cent and sea- sonal efficiency gains up to eight per cent.
