CLIVET HAS RELEASED its new SCREWLine (WDAN-iK4 MF) series, which is a new air cooled multifunction heat pump for outdoor installation.
It uses R513A refrigerant and has inverter screw compressors.
The WDAN-iK4 MF series is the ideal solution to meet the simultaneous needs of hot and chilled water in four-pipe systems (4T configuration).
It is available in Excellence energy version (EXC) which offers high efficiency in all operat- ing modes: SEER up to 5.18 and SCOP up to 4.21.
The capacity range varies according to the three selectable acoustic levels:
• Acoustic configuration with compressor
soundproofing (SC): Range 523 – 990 kW
• Silenced acoustic configuration (LN): Range
512 – 937 kW
• Super-silenced acoustic configuration (EN):
Range 450 – 876 kW.
Inverter dual-rotor screw compressors, high efficiency EC fans with continuous speed regu- lation and copper aluminum coils with hydro- philic treatment, are some of the technologies available on SCREWLine.
It has capacity modulation from 100 to 18 per cent, a double refrigerant circuit and extended operating limits that guarantee operation all year round.
With outdoor temperatures from -10°C to +46°C and hot water production up to +60°C even during the summer season and cold water down to -8°C even in winter, it can meet the needs of any system.
The regulation of the unit in winter optimises the defrost cycles to satisfy the system cooling request, avoiding changes in operation and loss of efficiency.
Furthermore the hydrophilic treatment applied on the coils facilitates the drainage of water mak- ing the defrosting cycles more effective.

The Eco Cooler uses water as a coolant.
Eco-friendly cooling solution
GERMAN INDUSTRIAL MACHINE manu- facturer, TRUMPF, has developed a new cooling solution for laser cutting machines called the Eco Cooler.
Conventional cooling systems use fluorinated gases but the Eco Cooler uses pure water as a coolant.
As a result, it uses up to 80 per cent less energy for refrigeration and dispenses entirely with harmful substances.
TRUMPF CEO for machine tools, Stephan Mayer, said sustainability offers a key competi- tive advantage.
“To ensure their operations remain viable, sheet-metal processors should be shifting to cli- mate and eco-friendly technologies,” Mayer said.
The Eco Cooler exploits the excellent cooling properties of water. The water flows to heat-gen- erating components such as laser diodes, optics, drives and control cabinets. Having cooled these components, the water flows back to the Eco Cooler, where it is chilled by a heat exchanger.
“The Eco Cooler works in the same way as a heat pump,” according to Andreas Hultsch, pro- ject leader at TRUMPF. “It enables users to con- trol the temperature of components that generate heat during laser processing and also regulate volume-flow rates.”
