AUSSIES GAIN HP INDIGO INKSPIRATION AWARDS
A trio of Australian label printing companies have been recognised in the annual
HP Indigo Inkspiration awards.
Peacock Bros, Multi-Color Corp (WA), and QLM Labelmakers all won Special Recognition in this year’s
HP Indigo Inkspiration awards, and all in the wine and non- alcoholic label category.
The Inkspiration awards cover the whole of the Asia Pacific and Japan, for work printed on an HP Indigo – supplied here by Currie Group – in two main categories; commercial, and labels and packaging.
The overall winner of the wine and non-alcoholic label category was the QLM Labelmakers business based in Vietnam, which took out two of the four Grand Winner prizes. Print businesses from eight different countries took out the awards, with Indian, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese printers prevalent.
Lindsay Nutley, marketing manager from Hoang Ha Label Co (QLM Label Makers Vietnam) said, “It is an honour to receive this special recognition. The HP Indigo Digital Press continues to play an integral role in helping us create innovative print products.”
HP Indigo increases options for label printers
Digital 120mpm: Series 6 V12
HP Indigo is the market leader in digital label printing presses, and has a stream of new options for the industry.
ORE digital labels are printed on HP Indigo presses than any other, with the company and its local supplier Currie Group supplying established conven- tional label printing busi- nesses, commercial printers looking for new revenue
streams, and start-up digital label print operations.
Key to the uptake of HP Indigo is the constant stream of technology developments, in both hardware and software.
HP Indigo is launching a new spot colour matching system SpotMaster across the range, which it says will enable any spot colour to be repro- duced accurately within minutes. Spot Master is now available on both the HP Indigo 25K and 35K, and will be available for the HP Indigo 6K later this year.
The HP Indigo 35K supercedes the 30000, and has “hundreds of improvements under the hood.”
Spot Master uses a new patented algorithm for fast and accurate colour matching, with the company saying it will enable converters to reach brand colours within five minutes, with an accuracy of less than two delta E, and less than three meters of waste.
HP Indigo label presses now include the HP Indigo 6K with inline varnish- ing, and the HP Indigo 8K which is the duo version. The company also has a new flexibles press, the HP Indigo 25K which superseded the 20000.
It also has a new folding carton press, the HP Indigo 35K which superseded the 30000, and, says the company, has “hundreds of improve- ments under the hood”. HP Indigo says it provides premium colour and print quality with 40 per cent overall higher productivity, thanks to faster job changeover, colour accuracy with Spot Master, and a more robust paper path from the feeder to the coater. For larger cartonboard printing the com- pany is launching the HP Indigo 90K for B1 plus sized sheets.
HP Indigo is also planning to launch a new digital narrow web label press, the Series 6 V12, which will print at 120 metres a minute in 12 colours at 1600dpi, and is based on a new LEPX technology. It is due for release next year. The new V12 will directly target the medium and long run flexo markets. ■
