We’ve come a long way
What an incredible journey the past sixty years has been for the Australian packaging industry and its close follower, PKN Packaging News.
SIXTY years ago, this pub- lication made its debut as a magazine called Pakit. Over time it has evolved into the leading multi- media platform it is today, PKN Packaging News, owned by independent
Australian publisher, Yaffa Media.
This celebratory edition marks a signifi- cant milestone not only for PKN but also for our readership. The Australian packag- ing industry has witnessed dramatic transformation in technology and busi-
ness practices over six decades.
In our Decades in Review section, we have selected headline-making news snippets from our archives that capture a sense of the issues and challenges that dominated the industry at the time. This report makes no claim to be an
exhaustive summary of events as they unfolded – space constraints prevented the inclusion of every notable technology breakthrough or business development – but it does provide an interesting snapshot of the industry’s history.
To recognise the people driving our industry forward, we have compiled our 60 of the Best list of individuals who have been major contributors to making positive change happen. And to round out this anni- versary special, we feature profiles submit- ted by members of the industry.
