Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association
From a humble beginning in 1983, the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association Ltd (APPMA) has continued to grow and develop.
Since its inception, the APPMA has played a significant role, with a continued focus on how it can best deliver value, benefit, and support services that members and the broader pack- aging and processing industry need.
Chairman Mark Dingley says: “The past has provided a real springboard for the APPMA to increase its influence and contri- bution to the packaging and processing industry. The diversity of APPMA members is unique from an association perspective, with current membership including
companies as large as Opal and Visy, through to start-ups and family-based businesses, many including Australia’s leading OEMs.”
As the only national organisation for this specific sector, the APPMA’s objective is to promote, integrate and foster participation and development at all levels of the packaging and processing machinery industry.
“As the industry grows and develops, it is also important that the APPMA evolves to remain relevant and deliver value and benefit to all members and the broader industry.”
The APPMA provides a range of marketing, promotion and networking events across Australia for both members and the broader industry. Its flagship event is AUSPACK, which
provides the perfect environment for total industry engagement, networking, promotion and recognition.
“I’m very proud to say that AUSPACK has grown significantly over the years, with 2019 representing yet another record show. The additional events we developed around it have only deepened focus on the industry. These include the Business and Industry Conference and the APPMA Awards of Excellence. By run- ning them in conjunction with the AUSPACK exhibition, it’s taken the week to a new level for all exhibitors, attendees, sponsors and the industry, so much so that this is now collec- tively known as Packaging and Processing Week,” Dingley says.
In an exclusive partnership with PKN Packaging News, the APPMA brings to life Machinery Matters, a publication that supports and promotes members. Combined with ongo- ing industry promotion, member stories, announcements and successes via social media channels, the APPMA newsletter, web- site promotions and email communications, Machinery Matters has helped deliver a greater level of awareness and recognition around the important role and contribution the machinery industry makes to the Australian economy.
APPMA treasurer Mark Emmett says: “While being an industry-based association, the APPMA also contributes and remains actively involved in initiatives, events and busi- ness that support environmental aims, com- munity improvements and human wellbeing. Our 10-year commitment to the Fight Food Waste CRC and the goal of reducing food waste within Australia is an excellent example. We also sponsor, support and promote the good work of food-relief organisations such as Foodbank and OzHarvest.”
Moving forward, the APPMA plans include many other initiatives, among them ongoing development and provision of support ser- vices, increased industry engagement and education (both virtual and face to face, when safe) and developing membership categories and packages designed to best support and promote APPMA members and the packaging and processing industry as a whole.
APPMA company membership numbers continue to grow to record levels, with 128 member companies across Australia currently.
The APPMA provides a range of marketing, promotion and networking events across Australia for both members and the broader industry.
