                                Wide Format Cutting
It’s a big world of cutters
Kissel + Wolf Australia takes a look at the opportunities for growth in wide-format cutting applications and the key selection criteria.
Adigital wide-format cutter allows printers to offer additional products and services to their customers. Short-run print
and packaging work can be completed in-house without the need to pay
external providers. Print product sampling, including die-cutting and creasing, can be offered at a reasonable price point and fast turnaround, while controlling the quality in-house and reducing the cost. Printers and converters can offer short-run production, and when investing in an automated board handling system for auto load and unload
of products, longer production runs can
be achieved, without the need for manual labour. Pivoting into the sign and display applications is another way to expand your offerings and be able to sell high-margin products.
When choosing a digital wide-format cutter it is important to understand the maximum sheet or board size which needs
to be handled. Digital cutters typically range from A3-B2+ format for the smaller machines, up to 4.5m x 2.1m.
Wide-format digital cutters can be fitted with multiple cutting heads, which can
be equipped with different tools, such as cutting, creasing, kiss cutting, v-cut, router spindle miller, and electric oscillating. These can cut up to 50mm in material thickness with ±0.1 mm cutting accuracy materials
of all sorts such as KT Board, PP paper, foam board, sticker, reflective material, cardboard, plastic sheet, corrugated board, grey board, corrugated plastic, ABS board, magnetic sticker, and textile.
Kissel + Wolf Australia offers a complete end-to-end solution, including productivity and workflow software, digital inkjet printing machines for the folding carton and corrugated board, to digital creasing and cutting solutions.
