Just keep moving
IT appears we are halfway through the year. Just as our front cover company this month, FlexCAM, moves customers’ products efficiently and reliably, it appears so turn the wheels of time, but without those reassuring traits!
This month we introduce the expertise of Mark Ostryn from Groves & Partners (page 8) with his industry report on
mergers and acquisitions. He looks at deals done in the last 12 months and who the buyers (and sellers) are.
We turn our attention to health and functional foods this issue (from page 20) with our Rising Star, C-Biogenics Nutrition, an example of passionate industry specialists developing products based on the principle of ‘food is medicine’. That’s on page 14.
In our Ready Meals feature, I caught up with Australian food royalty Simmone Logue at the launch of her ready meal range (page 27). Logue has partnered with Beak & Johnston to manufacture the products, saying just because we are time-poor doesn’t mean our meals should not “taste like home”.
There is little in the food and beverage sector
which is not impacted by Industry 4.0 and IIoT. The
Open IIoT Group comprises some of Australia’s leading automation brands working to break down the jargon
and tackle real-world automation concerns. Their article (page 28) in this issue looks at how predictive maintenance tools can reduce the risks of production line breakdowns.
And finally, our Fast 5 profile this month is Andrew Loader, the CEO and co-founder of Openway Food Co. Just as FlexCAM keeps companies’ products moving, through Openway, Loader is showing a new way food manufacturing businesses can be structured and run.
In the spirit of Dory from Finding Nemo, just keep moving, just keep moving.
Onward.
