EFI Pro 32r+ roll-to-roll LED inkjet print system
The EFI Pro 32r+ is designed to be an economical, all- in-one, production-level printer. Productivity is up to 256sqm per hour with four-color (CMYK) printing plus optional white ink or optional clear ink.
Target applications include banners, billboards, building wraps, flags, floor graphics, POS, posters, textiles, signage, wall graphics and wallpaper.
It uses the 7 picolitre UltraDrop Technology for high-definition print quality, which EFI says gives up to 847 dpi true resolution.
It uses LED for lower power consumption and the use of thinner substrates. Inks are the EFI - 3M SuperRange XF inks with 3M MCS Warranty, including white ink.
It also comes with an integrated mesh kit, a wrinkle analyser, a built-in lightbox, and has a built-in Fiery digital front end, featuring Fast Rip acceleration technology, plus rip and print on demand functionality, or the ability to print pre- ripped files at the printer interface.
Options include white or clear ink printing, y-slitters, automatic blockout, backlit, dual roll split shafts, media edge guard, 3.2 m super duty winder, media saving wizard and iphone application.
Advanced white printing for premium applications allows a variety of white print-modes up to five layers, an opaque white layer, selective or spot, and it can serve as a light diffuser in backlit applications.
The cool cure LED reduces operating costs and
the environmental footprint. It will extend the
range of supported substrates, including lower
cost and added-value specialty media. It increases uptime and productivity with instant on/off and less maintenance. It drives down operating costs with significantly less energy consumption (1.8 kw instead of 10 kw) and fewer consumable parts. EFI says LED cool cure gives improved control over gloss/matte levels, reduces waste with consistent colour output and simple operation, and satisfies customer requests for a greener print solution with low VOCs, lower power consumption, and less waste and consumables.
will be able to support this.” Rodd Harrison, vice-president,
Asia-Pacific Sales at EFI says,
“We are thrilled that Dashing Group has chosen EFI to support its business needs. We take our sales discovery process with our customers seriously, and I am confident that with EFI’s leading innovative products, technology and people, we can continue to support Dashing to achieve better production efficiencies.” Darren Massey, business development manager at EFI says, “Dashing is a fantastic business, operating in a demanding space. Its new EFI Pro 32r+ will enable it to meet those client expectations.”
Although Russell and Chad
took the decision to move from general commercial print to visual merchandising and made strong moves early, it has continued to make heavy investments, and not just in print production. Russell says, “It was an evolution that took three or four years. We put on events for retailers, we sent out teams to Europe to get trend watching, we didn't draw any money out of the business."
Like all printers Covid hit hard last April to June, however, from September onwards Dashing has been back to pre−Covid levels. In fact, says Russell, “We are growing the team again, we've had five new starters over the last month.”
suppliers to work with them to reduce their carbon footprints. For Dashing, environmental responsibility has been a core part of the business. It has a sustainability team drawn from across all areas of the business. It has ISO environmental certification, and it has its own compacter on site, which saves about seven or eight truckloads of waste a week from travel back and forth to the tip. It also uses its own waste in packaging its merchandising.
And helping in its environmental drive is the new EFI Pro 32r+ with its GreenGuard certified ink and cool cure LED technology, which has significantly reduced power consumption. And that energy for Dashing’s new printer, and all its others, is set to come from its own solar power soon.
Dashing is looking to install solar panels on the roof of its building to source energy. Russell says, “Because of the way we operate, it will reduce our power load substantially, and we won't need a battery. We can use the power that will be built up from the sun during the day.” Dashing runs a 24/7 operation at its Lane Cove facility.
When Dashing started on the visual merchandising journey it was pioneering a pathway, and its continued investment means it is still in the vanguard of the sector.
Pivoting away from a general market into a niche is business textbook for growth, but taking the steps requires vision and courage. Dashing Group continues to back itself, with the new EFI Pro 32r+ the
