  David Currie steps back, Rob Mesaros steps up
 David Currie, executive chairman of Currie Group, and one of the
longest-serving and best- known members of the ANZ print industry, will be stepping down from his executive role within the business after
51 years. He will remain as chairman of the Group.
Effective immediately, Rob Mesaros commences as chief executive officer, stepping up from the strategic advisor role he has held for the past six months.
Currie Group’s senior management team now includes Bernie Robinson, managing director; Phillip Rennell, sales and marketing director; Mark Daws, director – Labels & Packaging ANZ; and Andrew Fitzpatrick, finance director.
Currie began working with the business in 1969, some 20
years after his father started it, and has been a primary figure in the local industry ever since. Currie Group is now the biggest supplier in the region.
He said, “The company is
well positioned with new partnerships and fresh
talent coming on board, and
new products from existing suppliers. I look forward to remaining as active chairman, while also spending more
time concentrating on family commitments and other interests.
“On reflection and after 51 years in the industry, having seen enormous changes in technology and people, there is still confidence that there is a great future. I am proud that my son Will represents part of my legacy as the third generation in the business, which was started by my father in 1949.”

  New CEO Rob Mesaros started with Currie Group in August 2020 as a strategic executive advisor. He has been exposed to all facets of the business and has connected with partners and customers alike. Mesaros will be responsible for leading the end-to-end business operation with a focus on business strategy and growth.
Mesaros said, “It has been
a pleasure getting to know all our key stakeholders and their
teams over the past six months. Currie Group has a proud and successful history and strong cornerstone strengths.
“We have an enviable portfolio of class-leading products and solutions, a deep and broad ANZ service capability, unrivalled coverage, and a rich pedigree of talented industry experts for
our customers to lean on. We will continue to look for ways to improve and grow for the benefit of the industry. 21
solutions across the region, with entries from countries including Australia, China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
The 2020 Innovation Print Awards attracted 242 entries across 16 award categories under application-based and print technology. Along with
a new name, two new award categories were added, the
first being the Best Use of Creative Design. This new category allows users to capture different types of creativity and innovation in digital printing, aimed to showcase the wide range of applications available when using the specialty colours of the Iridesse.
The returning panel
assessed all entries based on criteria including print quality, appropriate use of digital technology, degree of innovation, business effectiveness and overall aesthetics.
Out of 27 winning entries, 18 winning applications were produced using the Iridesse Production Press. 21
     TPD takes out Best of Best in Asia Pacific Fuji Xerox awards
  Victorian business, The Print Department (TPD), took out inaugural honours for the newly announced Special Recognition Best of the Best at the Asia Pacific Fuji Xerox Innovation Print Awards.
Diana Pezzano, business
and marketing manager at The Print Department said. “As the Iridesse has been part of our business for the past three and a half years, we have worked closely with our clients to help them capitalise on the capabilities and strengths of this press and help them to
realise their brilliant ideas. “We have always wanted to
produce an extensive guide that encapsulates all these ideas. And as difficult as 2020 was, the team at TPD collectively decided to finally bring this idea to life.
“We wanted it to be the go- to guide for our clients when working on their print project – a guide that can show them how to create, print and inspire.”
The Innovation Print Awards is the new name for Pixi Awards, which have been running for 12 years. This year saw 27 winning entries. The annual competition honours the most outstanding and innovative users of Fuji Xerox graphics communications
