THE CHEMOURS COMPANY HAS ANNOUNCED A SERIES OF LEADERSHIP TRANSITIONS EFFECTIVE 1 JULY, 2021.
MARK NEWMAN, THE company's current chief operating officer, will become president and CEO of Chemours, succeeding Mark Vergnano, who has been in the role since the company’s founding in 2015.
Vergnano will be retiring from the company and will assume the position of non-executive chair of the company's board of directors for the balance of 2021.
The current chair, Richard H. Brown, has an- nounced his intention to retire after leading the board for the last six years.
With these changes, Dawn Farrell, who has
served on the board since the company's found- ing, will become the company's lead independ- ent director.
"I am honoured and excited by the opportu- nity to lead Chemours," Newman said.
“This exciting moment would not have been possible without the hard work of our people, the collaborative relationships that we have with our customers, and the leadership of Mark Vergnano.”
Newman first joined Chemours in 2014 and was instrumental in the launch of Chemours as a stand-alone, publicly traded company.
Prior to joining Chemours, Newman was senior vice president and COO in SunCoke Energy, where he oversaw strategy, business development, and information technology.
He also served in a number of senior operating and finance leadership roles in the United States and China, primarily with General Motors Cor- poration, where he began his career in 1986.
FROM L-R: Dawn Farrell is lead independent director. Mark Newman has been appointed CEO. Mark Vergnano is planning to retire.
      Fundamentals of refrigeration
COMPRESSOR MANUFACTURER BITZER
has announced the publication of a new manual charting all there is to know about refrigeration for both beginners and seasoned technicians.
Fundamentals of Refrigeration is published by Volker Stamer, director of the international Bitzer training centre Schaufler Academy.
The 220 page publication contains a wealth of basic information in German and English.
It promises new recruits and experienced read- ers alike an overview of all the important aspects of refrigeration and fills in partial knowledge gaps.
The manual takes readers from the funda- mentals of thermodynamics and the compo-
nents of a refrigerating circuit through to commissioning and troubleshooting refrig- eration systems.
The various subject areas of refrigeration are made easy to understand with numerous col- ourful diagrams and illustrations.
The work is based on contributions from nu- merous external experts from TWK, the Ger- man training and test centre as wells as numer- ous Bitzer experts.
RIGHT: The manual is available in German and English.
