For more than 70 years the Northern Territory has played an important role in the defence of Australia.
As we move to the next generation of defence technology and equipment, such as the Joint Strike Fighter and Triton, this role will continue and the Northern Territory Government is developing local capabilities to support national efforts.
These include growing a professional workforce, supporting cutting-edge STEM projects and building a sovereign Ship Lift capability within
a Marine Industry Park. We are also building a ‘Terabit Territory’ that will position the Territory as a digital hub in the Indo-Pacific region to support national security and
defence data requirements.
