 Oil Garden goes
green inside and out
Health, beauty and wellness company Heritage Brands has adopted rPET as its packaging material of choice for its Oil Garden range.
ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly pack- aging claims were represented on almost 15 per cent of beauty and personal care product launches globally last year and market researchers predict this trend will continue to rise mov-
ing forward.
In line with this trend, Heritage
Brands, through its newly launched Oil Garden range, is setting out to achieve greener solutions to play its part in supporting the circular econ- omy and satisfying the ever-growing consumer demand for more sustain- able packaging on products.
“Heritage Brands empowers con- sumers to make ethical health, beauty, and wellness choices,” says Con Gendis, CEO, Heritage Brands.
This is a significant shift, given that for a long time companies have focused on pure commercial value when designing and developing their packaging. Unfortunately, this has led to the adoption of a linear method of consumption, which has caused increasing damage to the environ- ment by way of discarded waste.
Plastic pollution is a global prob- lem. While stockpiles of plastic waste keep growing, valuable resources continue to find their way into the natural environment and landfills.
To counter this problem, Melbourne-based Martogg Group is producing a brand of food-grade rPET, known as marPET, to help make PET plastic a circular packag- ing material. The product is used for the packaging in the Oil Garden range produced by Quality Blow Moulders (QBM) in Dandenong South, Victoria.
Production manager for QBM, Martin McCaw says, “We found the marPET product almost seamless in producing the Oil Garden range of rPET bottles. And very little adjust- ment was required for either process- ing or colour variation.”
McCaw went on to explain that “common issues such as screw

slippage and colour variation have not been a concern when using Martogg’s Food Grade rPET”.
As one of Australia’s leading pure essential oil brands, Oil Garden offers an extensive selection of 100 per cent pure essential oils, organic skincare, diffusers and accessories. All of these products are sustainably sourced, delivering genuine value without compromising on quality.
Austen Ramage, group sustainabil- ity manager for Martogg, described the project as “a perfect example of industry collaboration, whereby an independent raw material supplier, packaging manufacturer and brand owner have worked together to pro- vide a locally made, sustainable product that meets consumer demand both on the inside and out”.
The Oil Garden Body Care range can be purchased at leading retailers, such as Chemist Warehouse, and independent pharmacies and health food stores around Australia. ■
