Epson debuts new digital UV label press
Epson has taken delivery of and installed Australia’s first high productivity SurePress L-6534VW industrial UV digital label press, at its new Experience Centre in Yennora, Sydney.
THE new Epson SurePress L-6534VW prints at speeds of up to 50 meters per minute for higher productiv- ity, with Epson citing the quality, ease of use, and potential for prof- itable printing as key factors.
It uses wide gamut CMYK inks with a “high opacity” white as stan- dard, and includes what Epson says is an innovative in-line digital var- nish, which delivers smooth gloss, matte and spot finishes.
Craig Heckenberg, CEO Epson ANZ said, “The investment in the new L6534-VW shows Epson is committed to the label market, and to the transi- tion from analogue to digital. Label printers who install the new SurePress will benefit from perfor- mance, precision, and the ability to add value inline. It is based on the proven PrecisionCore technology, with a host of innovative features to deliver value and opportunity.”
The L-6534VW label press com- bines Epson PrecisionCore print- heads around a central impression drum, in conjunction with a narrow platen gap. Epson says it delivers pre- cise droplet placement without web meandering or skewing. It says its LED pinning system also helps deliver finer tonal gradation and sharp images.
Epson’s proprietary Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT) and automatic head maintenance effi- ciently help the L-6534VW label press print through each shift with- out operator intervention.
As the L-6534VW label press sup- ports a wide range of label applica- tions including food and beverage, the labels it produces are also weather resistant. Durable labels on industrial products are a key target market for Epson.
Standard features for the L-6534VW include corona treater, web cleaner, ioniser and additional UV curing kit for increased ink adhesion on difficult substrates, all of which combine to help the press
provide the highest level of versatil- ity in print production.
According to Epson, the PrecisionCore linehead is the key behind the high performance and reliability of the SurePress L-6534VW. Each of the six lineheads are com- prised of PrecisionCore print chip modules (printheads), delivering what Epson says is precise quality with accuracy and high resolution.

shadow, can be reproduced with 600 x 1200dpi resolution, using a mini- mum droplet of three picolitres and Variable Sized Droplet Technology.
Epson says its PrecisionCore line- head, the “highly accurate” web feed- ing technology, and Epson-developed UV ink, enable high-speed printing up to 50 m/min with “high reliability and reduced down time”. It says the L-6534VW saves time on every job with its many automated and effi- cient productivity features. ■
XEIKON ADDS TWO NEW ENTRY-LEVEL LABEL PRESSES
Xeikon has launched two new digital label presses – the Xeikon CX30 and Xeikon CX50 – describing them as entry level presses to sit between its Rex range and its CX300 and CX500 models.
Xeikon says it has designed and developed the two new presses to suit any label printer operating on middle capacity, but especially in the pharmaceutical, food, and wine and spirit label sectors.
Trevor Crowley, sales general manager at Xeikon ANZ said, “The new printers offer either narrow web 330mm or wide web 520mm, and are scalable all the way up to the CX300 and CX500”.
“They offer printers of all types the opportunity to enter the digital label market at an entry level investment price, with all the acclaimed Xeikon technology.”
Building on Xeikon’s sixth generation platform, and based on Cheetah 2.0 technol- ogy with new generation interfaces and cloud connection, these new presses are designed to offer maximum OEE. The presses use Xeikon’s QB dry toner based on Cheetah 2.0 technology, which Xeikon says “excels in the digital print landscape by offering superior colour consistency across the web and ensuring the highest volume of output with reduced waste”.
