Noumi Limited (formerly Freedom Foods Group Limited) is a locally-owned public company, deriving revenue from developing, sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, selling and distributing plant-based and dairy beverages, dairy and nutritional products, to wholesale and consumer markets. Brands include Milk Lab, Australia’s Own, Almond Breeze, Vital Strength and Crankt Protein. In January, the two class actions against the company’s
financial performance in 2020 that included $590 million in writedowns, were combined. By April, noumi’s auditor Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu had told the Australian Securities & Investments Commission it had a conflict of interest with its client due to the class actions and its role as the company’s auditor when it was operating as Freedom Foods Group. It also said it intended to plead a proportionate liability defence and identify noumi as a concurrent wrongdoer. The company also agreed to pay Blue Diamond Growers US$35 million to settle a licensing dispute over the manufacture and distribution of Almond Breeze products in Australia. In August, new
