                                                                 SEA FOREST SECURES $3.8M GRANT
Tasmanian seaweed producer Sea Forest said a federal grant of
$3.8 million will be used to expand the commercial production of methane-reducing red seaweed, Asparagopsis.
Sea Forest CEO, Sam Elsom (below) said the government recognised the growing popularity of its unique seaweed supplement.
The new funding adds to the $1.67 million it previously received
from the federal government including $675,000 from the Commercialisation Fund through the Australian Manufacturing Growth Centre in October 2021.
In April 2021, the company raised $34 million with Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets and PGA Investments.

ASAHI’S $55M UPGRADE
Asahi Beverage’s opened its upgraded Wulkuraka manufacturing plant in South- East Queensland. The investment nearly doubled the plant’s annual production capacity, with three new lines, increased sustainability, enabling
more than 300 million litres of soft drinks, iced tea, waters, and juice to be produced at the site every year.

production line. The
facility will operate 24/7, with two new bottling lines and a 39-metre- high distribution warehouse.
GLOBAL CEO MARS RESIGNS
Global CEO of Mars Grant Reid (above right) resigned after eight years in the role and 34 years with
the company. Global president of Mars Petcare, Paul Weihrauch, took over the role in late September. Mars chair Frank Mars said Reid left an “extraordinary legacy”. Under his leadership, Mars expanded into veterinary health, pet services, and healthy snacking, and sales grew more than 50 per cent to almost $65 billion.
FREW FOODS EXPANDS
Meat processor Frew Foods will upgrade equipment, expand facilities, and develop export opportunities with a multi- million-dollar grant from the Victorian government.
Located in Stawell, Victoria, the company processes up to 900,000 sheep a year for domestic and
