Zimbler is a 4th generation family business. It was established by Samuel Zimbler on 1st November 1929 - three years after he arrived in Melbourne, from London. We’re now in our 90th
year of procuring, importing and distributing goods across Australia and New Zealand to over 700 independent and chain retail stores.
Our reputation is built on strong relationships with suppliers and customers, based on fundamental values of quality, integrity, reliability and ethical dealing. We’re here for the long term!
Samuel Zimbler’s original business involved importing furs and skins, which he used to manufacture coats and other apparel for sale to Myer Emporium, Buckley & Nunn, Georges, Le Louvre and many smaller retail shops.
In 1945 Samuel’s son Peter joined the business. In 1957, Peter introduced a range of quality toys & hobby goods into the business the first being Airfix Kits - leveraging the substantial distribution network he and his father had built across Australia. They established a strong reputation in these new markets Peter
enabled the company to continue to grow, despite falling demand for furs and skins in the years to come.
Peter’s son, Jonathan, took over the business on his father’s premature death in 1985. Jonathan continued to expand our general toy business, improving expertise, systems and processes to facilitate supply to all major retail groups.
Jonathan’s son - Joel, is our upcoming, 4th generation leader. His new ideas and abundant energy have led him to leverage our 20+ year relationships with some of the world’s best toy manufacturers to conceive and project manage the production and distribution of slot cars sets, radio controlled vehicles and die cast cars.
