SUNSET-INSPIRED PINK GIN
Adelaide Hills Distillery has launched a pink craft gin using native Australian and European ingredients.
The 78 Degrees Sunset Gin contains flavours of Strawberry Gum, Bush Apple, Juniper and Rosella, including fresh red berries with hints of pine and eucalyptus.
The ingredients have been designed to display pink and purple hues seen in unique Australian sunsets.
Distillery co-founder Tobias Kline said the decision to make craft pink gin was due to a growing demand for high-quality daytime gin options.

A BROWNIE-CHEESECAKE HYBRID
McCain Foods has combined two Sara Lee classics into one dessert called ‘Brownie & Cheesecake’.
Brand manager Alexandra Kevork said the two products were now “together at last” in a combination that met demand for visual appeal and a good-quality dessert.
The cheesecake is sprinkled with chocolate crumb on top of a chocolate brownie cake base, and the pack shows consumers how to decorate the dessert for Instagram and Facebook sharing.
The company is seeking to follow the hybrid dessert trend, which started with the popularity of cronuts and cruffins.

consistency means the gin is like rose wine rather than being juniper-heavy, Kline says.
The 700ml bottles have an RRP of $74.99.
“We believe our chewy yet dense chocolate brownie provides just the right textural contrast to the light and creamy cheesecake topping, and the flavours go together perfectly,” Kevork said.
The dessert is now sold in Coles and Woolworths nationally with an RRP of $7.49.
VEGGIE-BASED RICE
CRACKERS
Smith’s has rolled out a new range of Sakata
rice crackers using real vegetable extracts such as beetroot, pumpkin, and spinach.
Launching in a new 50g pack size, Sakata Rice Crackers with vegetables offer a lunch time accompaniment or on-the-go snack.
They can also be enjoyed as a standalone snack, according to the company.
The new launch expands Sakata’s range of better-for-you savoury snacks with no artificial colours, flavours, or added MSG. They are also gluten-free.
All three flavours are now sold in Coles and independent supermarkets.
RRP for each pack is $1.50.

JOHNNIE WALKER ADDS SHERRY
Diageo Australia’s Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker has been re- imagined with the addition of sherry.
The limited-run Johnnie Walker Black Label Sherry Edition was crafted by blender Chris Clark, and matured in former sherry casks, giving the whisky a richer fruitiness, according to the company.
The expression uses malts including Blair Athol, Cardhu, and Strathmill, resulting in a taste of complex fresh fruit with orchard character, sweet vanilla, and gentle smoke.
Diageo’s head of international brands Jonathan Morgan said flavour-led expressions within scotch are gaining popularity with consumers.
“This is an accessible blend, making it a great introduction to scotch for new consumers, while re-introducing drinkers back to the classic Black Label blend,” he says.
The limited-edition Johnnie Walker Black Label Sherry Edition (ABV 40%) is now sold in liquor stores nationally at RRP $60 per 700ml bottle.
