Industry stalwarts inducted into the Hall of Fame
ROUNDING OUT THE EVENING WAS THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS SEGMENT OF THE AWARDS DINNER WITH FIVE LIFELONG CONTRIBUTORS TO THE HVACR AND BUILDING SERVICES INDUSTRY INDUCTED INTO THE ARBS HALL OF FAME.
Rounding out the evening was the most pres- tigious segment of the awards dinner with five lifelong contributors to the HVACR and build- ing services industry inducted into the ARBS Hall of Fame.
This year’s inductees were John Bosci (nominated by AIRAH), Warren Cole (nomi- nated by RACCA), Stephen Gilchrist (nomi- nated by CIBSE ANZ), Mark Padwick (nomi- nated by AREMA) and David Seedsman (nominated by AMCA).
Bosci has been a member of AIRAH for 41 years joining the organisation in 1977. He became board treasurer in 2002 changing the financial direction of the entire AIRAH organisation.
He helped transform AIRAH from a club to a viable business. Bosci was also instrumental in the establishment of the Australian Refrigera- tion Council (ARC) where he was inaugral chair.
During his acceptance speech Bosci reflected
on the many years he had worked within the in- dustry and thanked AIRAH for “the recognition they bestowed on me tonight.”
Warren Cole (nominated by RACCA) has spent five decades contributing to the HVACR industry. He is best known for his delivery, training and assessment of the Di- ploma of Engineering in HVACR. There is little doubt that Cole made the Diploma a reality.
“I started in this industry when I was just 14 years old, I’ve always been in it, and I love it,” Cole said.
Stephen Gilchrist (nominated by CIBSE ANZ) is a passionate building services practitioner and was instrumental in having building servic- es recognised as an engineering discipline on the National Professional Engineers Register in Australia and as a category in the development of the APEC Engineer Protocols.

A tireless supporter of HVACR, Mark Padwick was recognised for his role as president of ARE- MA as well as a director of the Australian Refrig- eration Council. He described being inducted into the Hall of Fame as very humbling.
“To be recognised for doing something you truly love is not kind of fair,” Padwick said when accepting his award.
David Seedsman (nominated by AMCA) thanked industry ‘giants’ Allan Coombs and Barry Smith, for “the opportunities I’ve had in life” and accepted the award on their behalf.
Seedsman completed his apprenticeship in 1963 and in 1966 began working at A.G.Coombs. He was appointed general manager in 1980 and began working closely with Allan Coombs and Phillip Coombs.
Seedsman also spent 15 years at AE Smith and also served as state president of AMCA in Victoria.
