PACKAGING companies in Australia and New Zealand have been internationally recognised, with 27 awards across 12 cate- gories in the prestigious 2022 WorldStar Packaging Awards, which are run by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).
The global packaging design competition attracted over 440 entries from 37 countries, which represented a 30 per cent increase in submissions. In terms of the number of awards won by coun- try or region, Germany narrowly pipped ANZ to the winner’s post, with Japan coming in third and China fourth.
“This is the highest num- ber of awards ever won for the ANZ region, which is an out- standing achievement and recognition for the innovations that are being developed in this region,” AIP executive director Nerida Kelton told PKN, noting
that only companies that have won Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards (PIDAs) are eligible to enter the WorldStar Packaging Awards.
Among ANZ companies achieving multiple awards, Wellman Packaging scored high- est receiving four, two each for Squeezepak sauce bottle and Colgate Palmolive rPET bot- tle; Planet Protector Packaging received three for Vaccine Protector; Omni Group received three for VentX Unico; Zipform Packaging received two, one for Pana Organic and one for rPUMP; Sealed Air received two, one for Junee Lamb and one for NZ Post Jiffy Shortuff mailer; O F Packaging received two, one for Brookfarm and one for Zero Co, and CHEP Australia received two for the 1/6th Retail Ready pallet. The WorldStar Special Awards, for which there are a number of ANZ entries, will be announced at the 2022 WorldStar Awards ceremony, which will be held in Milan, Italy in May dur- ing IPACK-IMA. ■
