Pernod Ricard Winemakers has engaged Labelmakers to deliver 360 degrees of visual splendour with a new shrink sleeve design.
JACOB’S Creek brand owner Pernod Ricard has partnered with contemporary Australian artist Go Suga to design a new limited-edition look for the award-winning Jacob’s Creek Classic Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir.
Australia’s number one wine brand and Go Suga collaborated to create a design called ‘Wonderland’ that “celebrates Australia’s life-loving spirit through joyful illustrations that depict the richness and diversity of culture on each bottle regardless of where you are from”, the brand owner says.
To support the journey-to- shelf and achieve maximum impact, Labelmakers was engaged by Pernod Ricard Winemakers to create the bold and vibrant print
finish for ‘Wonderland’ combined with the optimal shrink performance.
Jacob’s Creek White and Sparkling winemaker, Trina Smith, says, “Our Classic Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir is a beloved Jacob’s Creek wine served around the world. The new design brings the spirit of Australia to life, featuring an eclectic collection of quintessentially Australian moments, people and places
that are instantly recognisable. Australia is a ‘Wonderland’ and Go Suga’s design was created to spark joy in everyone who pops open a bottle.”
EXPERTISE WRAPPED UP
With the recent acquisition of Le Mac now finalised, Labelmakers Group brings together 35 years of innovation in shrink sleeves combined with design, printing and technical know-how across Australasia.
“From simple designs
to highly complex embellishments and finishes, our role is to support design and
brand teams to bring concepts to life, through creative print,” says Jessica Simes, head of sales and marketing at Labelmakers.
The Gift Wrap Shrink Sleeve (pictured below) has been developed by Le Mac from a patent-pending laminate and is an example of innovation in the gift packaging space. The sleeve performs partly like a shrink sleeve, heat shrinking to the contours of the bottle, but prints like paper.
Labelmakers collaborates with third-party application partners to deliver shrink sleeves to the production line. However, the Le Mac Packaging division in New South Wales can deliver a total fulfillment service across design, printing and sleeve application.
GM of Le Mac Packaging, Scott Beadman says, “Our desire is to support customers at every step of their design journey, and our fulfillment model is an example of where we can remove complexity in the production process and provide a single touch point for sleeve printing and application.”
Labelmakers and Le Mac both design and print all shrink sleeves locally using world- class printing technology
across flexo and digital. With depth of expertise across three sites in Melbourne and Sydney, the team has the capability to develop concepts in collaboration with customers in real-time, on the press.
“From colour management to shrink performance, draw- downs can be achieved quickly and final press checks and shrink tests are conducted with the customer on-site,” says Simes.
Labelmakers’ Melbourne plant houses a full suite of printing technologies including short-run digital – to support small and emerging brands or limited-edition promotions – and higher volume flexo and offset technology, offering high-end embellishment techniques. ✷
