VEGAN ENTRANT TO MEAL KIT MARKETPLACE
US natural foods company Upton’s Naturals is bringing its vegan meal kits to Australian shores. The Thai-inspired dishes are made from whole-food ingredients and are ready in minutes in the microwave.
Each pack includes pre-cooked noodles, fresh vegetables and spices, and offers a convenient lunch solution while being 100 per cent vegan, free of trans fat, cholesterol, GMOs and preservatives. The products are not dehydrated and are packaged in a retort pouch to maintain freshness.
“The inspiration for our meal kits came during our travels to Thailand where we source and manufacture our pre-seasoned, ready-to-eat jackfruit,” said Upton’s Natural co-founder Dan Staakmann. “They’ve been a hit in the States, and with more Aussies following a meat-free diet, we’re very excited for this audience to give our convenient, heat-and-serve Meal Kits a try.”
A CREAMY COLLABORATION FOR PETERS, CADBURY
In the lead up to summer, ice cream brand Peters has teamed up with Cadbury to create a new range of ice cream inspired by classic chocolate bars.
Freddo chocolate will be crafted into sticks and a triple-layered ice cream cake, while Picnic will also take a stick form and Crunchie will be made into bars.
There will also be a second range release of 1.2-litre tubs in five flavours – Picnic, Crunchie, Oreo, chocolate, and vanilla, using Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate.
Upton’s Naturals meal kits are available in four varieties – Pad See Ew, Massaman Curry, Thai Spaghetti and Thai Curry Noodle – and can be found in health food shops and supermarkets nationwide.
“We worked closely with the team at Cadbury to bring the real taste of Cadbury to the freezer,” said Peters head of marketing Andrea Hamori.
“We wanted to create delicious products that taste like the iconic flavours Aussies know and love, and in a size that’s perfect for sharing.”

GUT HEALTH GOES SPOONABLE
Dairy company The Collective continues to tap into the gut health space
based on traditional recipes. The product was designed to help consumers make the switch from sugary soft drinks.
The Remedy Drinks Sodas use all natural and organic ingredients, including Kola nut, orange juice, lemon and lime juice, and spices such as vanilla, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. It is then fermented with a Remedy natural live culture to brew out all of the sugar and create the new range of handcrafted, live cultured sodas with organic acids.
Remedy Drinks co-founder Emmet Condon said it was the right time to expand the Remedy range into live cultured sodas.
“Creating a range of live cultured sodas is the natural extension of our work to encourage more people to make the switch and incorporate delicious, live cultured drinks into their everyday diet for the good of their overall health and wellbeing,” said Condon.
The new soda range has five flavours and is available in supermarkets, petrol and convenience stores, café and health stores, and online.
