Fespa, the world’s biggest display graphics print show, is taking place at the end of May. Print21 previews a dozen of the leading print systems likely to be on show in Berlin.
Agfa: Jeti Tauro
H3300 LED
Picking up a swag of awards over the past
12 months the Agfa Jeti Tauro H3300 LED will be centrestage at Fespa. As part of the Jeti Tauro platform, the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED embodies Agfa’s “Extreme Productivity and Extreme Quality” for what the company says are the vivid, detailed images that can print at “exceptional” speeds. Featuring
a resolution of 635 x 1200 dpi in all print modes, the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED produces prints up to 3.3 metres wide, at speeds up to 453sqm per hour. Built for 24/7 heavy-duty workloads, the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED is a versatile hybrid printer that can print on rigid and roll media, according to Agfa, at “top quality with the lowest ink consumption”. Offering four levels of automation to choose from, printers can configure the engine
to their specific needs; manual loading
and unloading, master roll-to-roll, semi- automation, and full automation.
Fifth generation: Canon Arizona 135 GT
Canon: Arizon 135 GT
The latest member of the fifth generation wide format Arizona printer, the new Arizona 135 GT uses the same core technology of its mid-volume siblings, and the VariaDot printing technology.
The Arizona 135 GT VariaDot greyscale printing technology can handle substrates of up to 125 x 250cm in size and up to 50.8mm thick and print at speeds of up to 34.2sqm per hour.

sizes range from 6 to 30 picolitres, and Canon claims the the Arizona 135 GT printing process consumes as much as
50 per cent less ink than regular flatbed printers, which says the company, makes the printer environmentally and economically attractive. The device’s environmental credentials also include the use of UL Greenguard Gold certified low-emission inks for indoor applications.
Durst: P5 350 HS
The high-performance Durst P5 350 HS hybrid printing system for roll and board media with a printing width of up to 3.5m took out the best new UV printing system for the corrugated packaging market at the recent Eurographic Digital Press awards.
With a speed of up to 710 sqm/h, and the ability to change materials quickly, with multi-roll and multi-track options, Durst says the P5 350 HS makes the printing process much more efficient. It will print corrugated and other materials, and further increases to productivity are enabled with the integrated Durst Workflow and Durst Analytics software.
The new HS has many of the same features that made the P5 350 successful, such as the multiroll and the multitrack 6 option, so the new model retains the level of high versatility. It can be configured with

up to nine colour channels, including light colours and white, and varnish for special multilayer printing applications such as Day&Night, In&Out, and up to 12 layers hapt-printing.
EFI: Vutek Q5r
EFI will have both display graphics and Reggiani textile printers at the show. Exact line-up has not yet been confirmed but may include the EFI Vutek Q5r, capable
of running at speeds of up to 672 square metres per hour. The 5.2-metre-wide printer delivers a full system solution from file submission to a finished print, with options such as in-line quality inspection, in-line slitting and cutting, roll and tape collection, auto-calibration, automated backlit printing,
and automated blockout printing. The EFI Vutek Q series printers,
which include both the Q5r and a 3.5-metre wide Vutek Q3r model,
are available with up to nine colours including white and clear, and feature EFI UltraDrop Technology, with native 7-picolitre printheads and multi-drop addressability for high-definition quality. EFI says benefits include smoothness in shadows, gradients, and transitions, as well as precise
and sharp point size text, with a true resolution of up to 1,200 dots per inch.
