                HVACR Leadership Awards
    Dedication
and care
THE HVACR LEADERSHIP Awards pro- vides an opportunity for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners Australia, Pty. Ltd. (MHIAA) to thank contractors for their dedication.
As the official sponsor of Contractor of the Year Award, MHIAA can support the very people that bring the manufacturer’s products and ser- vice to the Australian market.
MHIAA sales and planning general manager, Adrian Brown, said it is important to recognise a high standard of workmanship.
“Contractors are particularly important to the Australian economy right now,” Brown said.
“Governments at all levels are supporting new building projects, apprenticeships and training to generate more jobs.
Award presentations are always a joyful experience.
“This has helped raise the profile of contrac- tors and recognises the vital role they play in maintaining a strong and healthy workforce.”
Brown said many of the award nominees rep- resent the next generation of HVAC experts.
Asked about the qualities that make a great contractor, Brown said that for MHIAA, it is all about dedication and care.
“A good contractor is dedicated to their work,
their team and the customer, they take care in all aspects of the work they produce,” he said.
The most important qualities of a good con- tractor are dedication and care. Dedication to their work, their team and the consumer and care in all aspects of the work they produce.
“We wish all of the nominees the best of luck and look forward to meeting them at the awards ceremony later this year,” Brown said.
Nurturing young talent early in their career
ABB’S LOCAL BUSINESS manager for mo- tion, Michael Briggs, said today’s rising stars are the leaders of tomorrow, which is why it is impor- tant to support them early in their career.
This is just one of the reasons why ABB contin- ues to support the Male and Female Rising Star categories, two awards that nurture high achiev- ers under the age of 30.
“It is just one way we can encourage innova- tion, new ideas, and develop opportunities; we have a responsibility to sponsor initiatives that encourage young talent,” he said.
“I think awards programs help to recognise outstanding achievement and in the case of the Rising Star awards, recognising future potential.
“Our industry can be tough. We have all seen examples where unrewarded or unrecognised young talent leaves our industry and this loss is just bad management.”
Briggs said digitalisation is changing the in- dustry and young people entering this market are coming into it with fresh eyes and disrupting the status quo.
our Rising Stars will need to keep persisting to see success,” he said.
“They should try not to be discouraged if their new ideas are not always accepted immediately.” ABB’s HVAC segment manager for drives, Paul Burrows, said nurturing young talent and ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed
is part of the ABB DNA.
“It is even more important in trying times and
what a year it has been,” he said.
“It takes resilience to succeed in tough times,
this is when leadership is critical and when ris- ing stars can be inspirational.
“These are the times when we seek out those that rise above and see a path forward.”
Burrows said today’s rising stars need deter- mination and flexibility.
“If past recipients are an indication of what we will see in 2021 then the future of our industry looks bright,” he said.
“But change does not happen overnight and
ABOVE: It is a memorable day for past winners.
