market. Actrol is Australia’s largest parts whole- saler for the refrigeration, air conditioning, and allied industries.
Today, Actrol services both Australia and New Zealand with more than 70 branch locations in key metropolitan and regional areas and is con- tinually looking to expand its services.
As a major part of the Reece Group, Tecumseh teams work closely with Actrol and the Reece Group’s Product Innovation and Testing Lab to ensure the design, testing and quality of every condensing unit is made like no other.
Tecumseh’s partnership with Actrol ensures units are designed, tried and rigorously tested to meet the specific requirements of the Australian and New Zealand markets.
In consultation with Actrol engineers, Tecum- seh was able to adapt the compressor’s design to local conditions and improve the installation process for customers.
Changes included the removal of sharp edges for ease of lifting, the clear placement of wiring diagrams and consistent electrical wiring across all units.
With the HFC phasedown in Australia and in New Zealand, the teams have worked closely to ensure that all Tecumseh compressors and con- densing units are compatible with HFO refriger- ants including R448A, R449A and R452A.
This is supported by rigorous quality assur- ance processes and access to Actrol’s local in- sights. The goal is to ensure Tecumseh units re- main durable, reliable and robust.
Reliability is critical to the refrigeration indus- try. A Tecumseh installation means peace of mind because the compressors will continue to perform as expected, reducing the risk to customers.
A Tecumseh recommendation equals protec- tion – customers don’t just protect their busi- ness, they protect their reputation.
ABOVE: Lumity E3 expands upon the legacy E2.
Smith hosted the webinar with Emerson’s business development manager for food retail, Katrina Krites.
They addressed new features and functionali- ties of the Lumity platform and demonstrated instant visibility for all key systems, faults, sta- tuses and alarms.
Emerson has also made available contractor- focused training for the new Lumity supervisory control platform.
WORLD PERFORMANCE.
From the beginning, the mission was to ensure every unit was built to withstand the test of time. This commitment to quality and reliability has formed a solid foundation which Tecumseh has built upon year after year, decade after decade.
For over 30 years, its partnership with Actrol has allowed Tecumseh to service the Australian

EMERSON HELD AN informative webinar last month on its next generation of supervisory con- trols for facility management and refrigeration, the Lumity E3.
The all-new E3 controller builds upon the foundation of the industry standard E2.
This significant upgrade delivers a user-friend- ly, web-accessible interface that enables control over critical building and refrigeration systems, including: compressor groups, condensers and walk-in units, HVAC and lighting systems.
The Lumity E3 supervisory control greatly expands upon the legacy E2 with more power, robust control capabilities, faster speeds and seamless connectivity.
The E3 is powered by Emerson’s Lumity super- visory control software and gives end users an intuitive touch-screen display on-site and a
web-friendly interface for remote accessibility. For facility management, the supervisory con- trol platform contains two tools, the Lumity E3 controller, which has an integrated touch-screen display, and the Lumity SS (Site Supervisor) with
an optional mounted display.
The E3 controller has the same form and fit as
its predecessor, the E2, meaning that it can be used as a drop-in replacement.
Emerson’s director of product management, Sam Smith, said the Lumity platform is flexible enough to be used as a stand-alone refrigeration controller, a building management system or a site aggregator across multiple system controls.
The platform also highlights the information needed for resolution of any operational issues, with priority alerts shown in red.
