CMYKhub launches
Design Desk for printers
The nation’s biggest trade printer is now providing Design Desk, a graphic design and prepress service to the trade, with multiple subscription options to cater to every business.
As the print industry continues to evolve and deal with the fallout from Covid, new ways
of producing print are emerging, making use of the benefits of new technologies. Design Desk from CMYKhub is a prime example of what can be done.
Design Desk has been borne
out of imagination, vision, and understanding of the dynamics of the print industry married with the implementation of new technology.
The multi-level subscription service enables print businesses and print resellers to access a dedicated design team on demand, paying only for the service they use at the level they need.
For a small suburban printer, for example, it may mean not having
to employ a part-time designer, for the regional or rural printer it could mean not having to find designers

it means having a design team on demand to meet peaks in production. Also, for all printers it means ensuring their files are print ready, rather than dealing with costly and time-consuming file returns when bleed or the like is missing or out.
Glen Francis, national communications manager at CMYKhub says, “Supplying 3000 resellers around the country, CMYKhub is acutely aware of
the dynamics impacting on
print businesses. Design and file preparation is an area where we have noticed increased difficulty for our trade partners. A designer in a print business generally is required to wear many hats: taking briefs, quoting, serving customers, digital printing, finishing and then, with the limited time they have left, prepress and design. For a business owner, a full-time designer is a luxury many
cannot afford at present and even still there is always occasions when staff are sick or on holiday. Receiving a file without bleed or the wrong size is a common occurrence when the job is urgent and the skillset to fix the artwork isn’t always on hand to resolve it quickly.
“The new CMYKhub Design Desk is specifically created to enable printers to meet those challenges, with its on-demand status. While the service enables printers to service their clients the same as they always have at a lower cost, many have already chosen to use it as a supplementary resource to do more for their clients. In a competitive market, being able to exceed a prospective client’s expectations with multiple design options can be the difference between winning or losing the order.”
