START BY CREATING ACHIEVABLE, REALISTIC GOALS
Make sure that when you set goals for yourself you are realistic. Setting goals that cannot be achieved will only lead to frustration and disappointment. Ask yourself if you have the time or resourc- es to accomplish the goal.
For example, if you want to increase your number of cars repaired by 20% over the next month, ask yourself how many hours a day can you work at this goal? What resources will you need to complete the extra work? Have you got the space to handle the extra vehicles?
WRITE DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS
Writing things down has been proven to work better than trying to remember eve- rything in your head, so it is a good idea to start journaling or using software like Asana or Trello for goal setting. This way you can revisit your written goals as of- ten as needed, reviewing the list of the tasks you need to complete.
You can also visualise your goals be- ing completed with some type of visual reminder (e.g., picture, vision board).
KEEP MOMENTUM GOING BY
CELEBRATING YOUR SUCCESSES
One of the most overlooked parts of suc- cess is celebrating your achievements. You can celebrate anything that you have accomplished, be it big or small. The only limit is your imagination.
Go out for a meal or have dinner with friends and family. Take yourself on an outing, like going for a round of golf, whatever you enjoy doing.
BREAK DOWN THE GOAL INTO
MANAGEABLE CHUNKS
Identify what you need to do on a weekly or monthly basis to achieve it. Focus on one chunk at a time, do not try to tackle everything all at once. It is important to break your goal up into smaller steps.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Use a journal or spreadsheet to track dai- ly actions. Include both positive and neg- ative feedback from customers, as well as any roadblocks that come up during the process of achieving the goal.
Set aside time each day or week for re- viewing and updating your goals, using the data from the journal to help you make decisions on where to go next.
DO WHATEVER IT TAKES
If there is something in your way, get cre- ative and figure out how you can work around it or move past it.
