grammes, vocational training and commu- nity-based engagement activities.
Among the community-requested proj- ects, the Gapuwiyak community will benefit from a new culture and arts centre co-fund- ed by the Northern Territory Government.
The AACAP contingent of approximate- ly 110 personnel were given a Welcome to Country ceremony by the Gapuwiyak com- munity.
Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Rick Burr, said Gapuwiyak and Baniyala will be the 48th and 49th communities to benefit from the programme since it commenced in Bulla, Northern Territory, in 1997.
“AACAP capitalises on Army’s ability to deliver a range of services that would not normally be available in a single project,” LTGEN Burr said.
Over the past 25 years, AACAP projects have delivered a mix of housing, road con- struction/upgrades, sewerage treatment plants, airfield construction or upgrades, health clinics, telecommunications infra- structure, school upgrades, water supply infrastructure and housing subdivisions.
THIS year the Australian Army is marking its 25th year of providing support to re- mote First Nations communities through the Army Aboriginal Community Assis- tance Programme (AACAP).
AACAP is a joint initiative between Army and the National Indigenous Aus- tralians Agency (NIAA) which sees Army personnel deployed to a different remote
community each year to work on projects that improve health, living and economic conditions specific to that community.
This year, AACAP will be hosted in Gapuwiyak and Baniyala in East Arnhem Land. Army personnel will live and work alongside the community for a five month period to deliver upgrades to infrastruc- ture and services and provide health pro-
 DEFENCE RENEWS INSITEC ICT CONTRACT
  ROYA GHODSI I SYDNEY
CANBERRA-BASED ICT company Insitec will continue to provide technical and profession- al services to the Department of Defence’s Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) Service Management Branch after securing a contract renewal valued at $43.5 million.
CIOG’s Service Management Branch (SMB) governs and provides oversight and the delivery of all services that CIOG of- fers to the defence community.
The SMB contract was acquired by In- sitec in 2021 after its acquisition of Canber- ra-based consulting firm DMV’s ICT Part- ner Arrangement (ICTPA) membership.
The contract has been extended for an- other two years, with an option for a third year, engaging at least 60 staff.
“In 2021, we were providing about 52 staff across four directorates. That has since expanded to about 65,” Insitec Group
Managing Director Michael Branch said to ADM. “Insitec’s responsibilities for SMB are wide-ranging and cover process governance, user-facing services, service maturity im- provements, service management report- ing and the interim enterprise information management data warehousing capability.
“We also assist with service integration and management (SIAM) governance, customer feedback and complaints, user self-service, event and incident notifica- tions, executive dashboards as well as as- sist the commonwealth in representational duties across forums, working groups and other project requirements as needed.”
Essentially, Insitec runs a management dashboard environment that gathers data on network performance to ensure that ICT services contracted to CIOG are being delivered effectively. In addition, they are involved in service delivery policy with the aim to continually improve the way CIOG does its business.
“Fundamentally, we will continue to provide the same set of services, however, there is a continuous improvement ele- ment to this contract that wasn’t there pre- viously,” Branch said. “We are working to continuously improve and enhance those services across the broader CIOG, not just within the branch.”
