Taping plug-and-play
Packaging tape solutions company, Essentra Tapes, has launched a new applicator system for greater efficiencies in sheet-fed manufacturing processes.
ESSENTRA Tapes has expanded its range of packaging tape solutions with the release of its SF-AS DH1 sheet fed applicator.
Essentra Tapes head of Marketing and Development, Ian Beresford, says the system was developed in-house and is designed to increase efficient tape application during the sheet-fed process.
“Our vision was simple; to create a simple-to-operate, easy-to-integrate applicator, which addresses the tape application needs of sheet feed manufacturing and makes light work of creating e-commerce solutions,” Beresford says.
The system can run automatic rapid stop/start performance on tape widths from 4-25mm and at compatible production line speeds.
Beresford says a key point of difference is that it represents a sheet-fed solution that can rival continuous feed. The SF-AS DH1 can also be optimised for use on
new and existing packaging lines and boasts a fully electronic interface as standard.
The system can run two applicator heads simultaneously, meaning RippaTape can be applied alongside release liners or double-sided tapes.
“Our renewed investment into applicator technology and field engineers is the first of several important market interventions we hope to make between now and the end of the year.
“With prospective and existing customers increasingly looking to clean up operations and be more efficient, we’re confident our new sheet feed applicator can deliver a quality tape application every time,” Beresford says.
EASY ECOMMERCE SOLUTION
Essentra Tapes’ new Easiliner range of paper-based silicon release liners protect pressure- sensitive glue lines, building on its portfolio of ecommerce packaging solutions.
When paired with the SF-AS DH1 applicator, and used in tandem with the RippaTape collection, it represents a complete opening and closing solution for sheet plant converters.
The paper release liners, with seal-when-ready functionality, are available as kraft, glassine, and clay coated liners, at a range of grammages and finished reel widths.

pancake and traverse/spool wound reel formats, with the latter offering a route to increased efficiency and subsequent cost savings for sheet plant businesses.
Beresford says, “Put simply, this is about catering for the explosive growth in the ecommerce packaging market, as well as maximising the efficiency of our customers’ operations, reducing machine downtime and minimising material changeovers.”
