IAI Presents Land Force Capabilities »for a Multi-Domain, Integrated Solution
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has been providing the Israel Defence Force (IDF)
and militaries worldwide with arrays of innovative combat solutions to support tactical ground formations. It is clear developments in land warfare, including the need to concurrently address challenges of high and low-intensity warfare, dictated a more complex multi- domain approach. To effectively address this requirement IAI established a multi- disciplinary Land Systems Division within its subsidiary, Elta Systems Ltd. (IAI/ELTA).
Among the crucial capabilities addressed by the IAI/ELTA Land Systems Division is the ability to effectively engage time-critical targets. Warfighters must be able to quickly detect, locate, and classify targets. They need to swiftly assess and if necessary engage targets with confidence and confirm their destruction, all the while refraining from harming civilians in the vicinity. Other primary capabilities include Multi-INT analysis that continuously monitors the battlefield situation and assists commanders in making rapid and effective critical decisions.
IAI/ELTA also recognizes the centrality of mobility to land forces and the need
to operate on the move (OTM). IAI/ELTA provides organic sensors and systems for target acquisition and force protection. These state-of-the-art solutions include Counter-UAS systems (DroneGuard), multi-mission tactical radars (StormGuard), and hostile fire detection sensors (Othello), which enable the detection of ATGMs, snipers, mortars, rockets, drones and other threats. IAI/ELTA also offers

ad-hoc networking system. This system is based on IAI’s OPAL airborne network that combines formation aircraft into a single combat platform. OPAL generates a decentralized combat cloud among different platforms that enables a
shift from platform centric to network centric warfare. OPAL is considered an operational mission critical system in the Israel Air Force.
PassporT takes IAI’s OPAL system
to a new operational height. It creates a homogenous distributed network across all ADF forces – Army, Air Force and
Navy. PassporT will create a clear tactical situational awareness picture that includes the relevant information to be displayed
to the various forces. Soldiers on the ground will be able to see information
from supporting airborne forces (fire support and intelligence assets stemming from UAVs and combat support airborne platforms). Airborne assets will be able
to see airborne threats and information regarding ground combat. The system will provide information as to the operational status of infantry forces including health monitoring and logistic status. PassporT shares enemy target information between all relevant combat units. The proposed system will be agilely developed in Australia providing the ADF with a true sovereign capability for future system developments.

tactical intelligence gathering systems to support fighting formations even at the lower echelons. Other solutions, such
as Counter-IED and Counter Mine Suite (CIMS), address obstacle detection and defeat. IAI/ELTA is a pioneer in the field of remote-controlled autonomous vehicles, offering an extensive range of robotic applications for autonomous patrol and offensive operations.
Addressing the spherical battlespace, IAI/ELTA supports the requirement of land forces to dominate the low-level airspace around them with integrated sensors, countermeasures and weapons.
As an integral part of IAI, Israel’s multifaceted defence and aerospace concern, IAI/ELTA Land Systems Division leverages an extensive array of sensors, platforms and systems developed in- house to offer innovative, mature, and operationally proven solutions with full life-cycle support. IAI/ELTA is ready to tailor these solutions to each customer’s specific requirements and deliver them at the required time and place of need.
In addition to IAI/ELTA’s efforts, IAI’s Aviation Group has recently partnered with an Australian company, Intercorp, in proposing PassporT, an Army advanced
