SAFRAN HELICOPTER ENGINES AUSTRALIA has been supporting Civil and Military Customers in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands, as well as
the Armed Forces of a number of European nations for more than 25 years. Based in Sydney, the Bankstown Airport site is a Centre of Excellence for the RTM322 and MTR390 engines and the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) type 323.
Our local capabilities include gas turbine engine Mainte- nance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), provision of Technical Sup- port Services and comprehensive Program management for the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces in support of the MRH90/NH90, ARH Tiger, Helicopter Aircrew Training System and the APU system installed on the Hawk aircraft utilised by the LIF Program.
Safran Helicopter Engines Australia delivers flawless MRO capability for the NH90 and EH101 aircraft in service with the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Por- tugal and Sweden. Together with Commercial and Technical Support (including deep level and in-field maintenance) Ser- vices to a regional fleet of over 250 customers, comprising of over 600 engines operating across Oil and Gas, EMS, Utility, VIP, and tourism industry sectors utilising the Arriel 1 and 2 and Arrius 1 and 2 series of engines.
The Safran Helicopter Engines Australia strategy of Proximity, “knowing our Customers”, Partnership, being the “most pro- active site to work with” and People, “reinforcing personal and professional growth through leadership development”, is at the heart of the organisation.
Safran has recently received recognition of our dedicat- ed teams support by winning the 2020 Minister of Defence Awards of Excellence to Industry – New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and reaching the Finalists round in the Strategic Partnership category of the 2020 Minister of Defence Awards of Excellence to Industry – NZDF, and, received very positive feedback from customers such as Boeing Defence Austra- lia supporting the HATS program with the Airbus EC135T2+ powered by 2 x Arrius 2B2 engines.
A comment made in the formal letter from NZDF stated, “Ev- ery company says they value their customer but Defence rec- ognises that Safran delivers on this promise, every single day.”
This level of service provided by the Safran Helicopter En- gines Australia team is not special or over-the-top, it is who we are. This is the Safran DNA and commitment to each and every customer to provide the best possible service to keep our customers’ helicopter flying.

developed, building on a long term effort, delivering value for money, maintaining productivity and minimising risk.
Safran is currently teamed with Airbus Australia Pacific and 20 other Australian partners, bringing together Australia’s best industrial capabilities to form Team Nightjar, for Project LAND 2097 Phase 4. The highly capable Airbus H145M, powered by twin Safran Helicopter Engine Arriel 2E engines provides cutting edge technology, outstanding performance and true multi-role capabilities, and is operationally proven, being in service with a number of military forces across the globe.
As well as working as part of Team Nightjar in support of Australian capability, Safran Helicopter Engines Australia is also, developing Australian Industry Capability, to expand our industrial capability to include MRO services for the MRH90/ NH90 APU and engine line replaceable units (LRUs). This en- sures full local support of the MRH90/NH90 fleet in service
