INDUSTRY INSIGHT
12 Scott Jackson,
GM Southeast Asia Healthcare at Amcor, discusses Amcor’s new ISO 13485-certified medical packaging facility in Singapore.
It all starts with an idea
“EVERY once in a while a new tech- nology, an old problem, and a big idea turn into an innovation,” says American engineer, inventor, and businessman Dean Kamen, senti- ments which were similarly expressed by Lisa Smith, mind- worker from Minds at Work, key- note speaker at the recent Women in Print Breakfast Series, when she discussed the process of pitching an idea in the workplace.

reporting on the show, we were awestruck by the smorgasbord of machinery, technol- ogy, and materials on display... and even the stands themselves.
How incredible to consider that all of this had started out as an idea, and then stood radiantly on the show f loor!
Ideas shared were plentiful at the Leaders’ Forum and Solutions Theatre, as attendees and suppliers convened, connected and networked, taking part in lively dis-
cussions and industry education. And yet another idea now bears fruit, with the announcement of AUSPACK transitioning into the all-of-industry event, APPEX – Australasian Processing and Pack-
aging Expo.
The tradition of bringing together
the packaging and processing indus- tries continues and has been transformed.
Yes, it all starts with an idea. ■
