SUBARU FORESTER – WHAT’S NEW?
QUITE A LOT IS THE ANSWER, INCLUDING A NEW, STRONGER, MORE DYNAMIC PLATFORM.
S
UBARU GLOBAL PLATFORM
Subaru Global Platform (SGP) is adopted for the new Forester. Every element of the new platform has been redesigned and reinvented. The platform delivers vast improve- ments in the level of dynamic quality. From a structural view
point it offers:
• Improved energy absorption
• Increased cabin strength
• Added framework to the transmission tunnel.
• Significantly increased dynamic quality and rigidity
throughout entire body with optimised framework
• Stronger joints round front bulk
• Inner body construction method has been adopted for stronger
joints between the platform and upper structure framework
Structural adhesive has been adopted to improve chassis rigidity and better suppress vibrations and noise. Filling the gaps between spot welding with an epoxy-based adhesive min- imises body distortion and deflection to increase load transmis- sion, which improves steering response and also reduce vibrations.
Revolutionary Subaru engineering underpins the superior modular platform for enhanced performance, safety and drive ability. Innovative to the core, the game changing frame delivers reduced vibration, less roll when corning, a smoother ride and improved overall road dynamics. The Subaru Global Platform (SGP) is the foundation for the next generation of Subaru vehicles until 2025.
