 SUPPLIER SPOTLIGHT
National registry for greater visibility
With supply chain issues currently dominating headlines, the industry-led National Location Registry initiative aims to reduce manual processes and prevent delays.
INDUSTRY is facing significant supply chain problems. Streamlining the transit of goods is a major challenge for the industry.
Complications arising from the pandemic have added further to the congestion while large freight volumes have added additional stress to distribution networks and put further strain on transport providers.
There have also been changes to trading hours and increased safety requirements around COVID at pick-up and delivery points.
For a transport operator to execute a delivery, they need to understand the specific parameters of the physical location. This information is currently held in separate systems andoftennotstoreddigitally.
The National Location Registry, an industry-led initiative, is a digital platform that provides up-to-date, detailed information about pick-up and delivery points to authorised users.
Further information on operating hours, weight and height restrictions for vehicles and entry points is also available.
Using the registry allows this data to be shared between location owners and transport operators and replaces costly manual processes, helping prevent delivery delays and failures.
The registry is a multi-industry solution supporting sectors such as grocery, agriculture, healthcare, transport, freight, and general merchandise.

will reduce the administrative burden on industry.
“As location owners maintain their own location data, transport operators don’t need to maintain their own data set,” Newton says
All products in all industries become freight at some point in the process, so understanding the specific parameters of a location where physical transport processes take place is important and is a key element in achieving supply chain visibility.
Sanitarium head of logistics Michael Barton says for large manufacturers data in the registry ensures that “the right equipment goes to the right site”.
“These efficient operations in turn ensure the right products leave the site at the right time, in therightcondition,”Bartonsays.
“The digital platform allows Sanitarium to communicate up- to-date site conditions in a timely manner with their supply chain partners.”
The National Location Registry is underpinned by a framework of GS1 global data standards, enabling true visibility, interoperability, and efficiency for a digitalised supply chain.
The National Location Registry is a key element of the Australian Government’s broader National Freight Data Hub project.
Businesses can now to sign up for the registry and add their Global Location Numbers to the growing list already added. Read more at nlr.org.au and sign upatgs1au.org/nlr/register. ✷

THE product data and images solution is a significant milestone for current users of both GS1 National Product Catalogue and Smart Media.
The main benefit is that all product master data, on-pack data and images will be consolidated, allowing users to manage product content holistically via one user interface.
This dovetails into retailer requirements such as Woolworths new Partner Hub, which requires all data and images to come from a single point of entry.
The introduction of this functionalitywillprovidea
streamlined process ensuring the most current data including detailed nutritional information and images are published online for consumers.
Benefits include:
• compliance with major
retailers including
Woolworths and Coles;
• a simple and easy-to-use interface for suppliers to
manage all product
information including master • data for supermarkets,
on-pack data, and images for
online retail;
• faster and more efficient

partners;
• visual feedback from retailers
for items or images; and
• dedicated phone and online
customer support.
For Amy’s Kitchen country manager Hayley Hutton, the main benefit will be the ability to manage all product master data and images in one central location.
“While we access and maintain data and assets in a single interface, Woolworths will receive all our product information in a single feed,” Huttonsays. ✷
