Innovative split system dehumidifier
THE AIR CHANGE Group is excited to release its latest product range; the ‘SMA’ series of energy efficient make-up air dehumidifiers.
SMA stands for ‘split make-up air’ with the two-part system consisting of an indoor DX fan coil unit mounted inside the ceiling space, and a separate condensing unit mounted outside.
Hot and humid 100% outside air enters the in- door DX unit and is cooled and dehumidified to the required dew point temperature.
It is then reheated to a comfortable room tem- perature using otherwise wasted condenser heat and is supplied to the indoor space. This process can satisfy the entire latent load of the outside air without overcooling.
Overcooling is problematic in humid climates, as conventional systems will simply cycle off once the indoor temperature setpoint is met leading to the introduction of unconditioned outside air and the eventual buildup of humidity in the room.
“THE SMA CAN ADDRESS THE ENTIRE LATENT LOAD OF A BUILDING.”
Unacceptable levels of indoor humidity can cause mold growth, occupant discomfort and condensation issues.
The SMA utilises inverter compressors with variable capacity control to maintain a stable supply air dew point temperature without any on-off cycling.
Inverter compressors also offer much greater energy efficiency than other variable capacity technologies.
The sophisticated control system monitors the outside air conditions and automatically ad-
justs unit capacity in order to meet the required supply air dew point temperature.
As SMA units don’t use any return air, they can be used to provide make-up air for separate exhaust systems. They are also a perfect solution for designers looking to address minimum out- side air requirements, particularly where space is at a premium.
SMA units can be used in any application re- quiring dehumidified make-up air, which could include scientific labs, hotel lobbies or hospital wards.
Furthermore, they are also a great accompani- ment to VRF systems, allowing them to perform better in humid climates.
The SMA can address the entire latent load of a building, permitting the downstream VRF units to cool according to the room sensible load.

      Multiple displays for EDA controller
THE SERIES EDA Electronic Pressure Control- ler is an extremely versatile compact package that can replace a separate gauge, two switch- es, and a transmitter in a system.
This not only saves money and in- stallation time; it also conserves panel space.
It is now available with 120-240 VAC capability (via -HV option).

The Series EDA can now be ordered for line volt- age applications. With the “-HV” option, the EDA can be powered with 120-240 VAC eliminating the need for a step- down transformer and reduc- ing the installation time, cost, and complexity in ap- plications where only 120- 240 VAC power is available. Key benefits include simplified ordering. The fully programmable EDA is capable of displaying multi-
ple units of measure. Other benefits include: • Quick setup & diagnostics - the EDA has a test
and fail-safe mode reducing the time and the • amount of test equipment needed for setup
and installation
• Weatherproof - made for outdoor installation
and applications
• Versatile pump skid applications - the EDA can
perform pump alternation for duplex pump • Applications
