CLAMP ON FOR A WASH DOWN
ENSURING each part of the mixing and production process is as efficient as possible is a key concern for food and beverage producers. Whether your facility processes dairy products, meat, wine, juice or a multitude of other products, it pays to invest in a mixing system that will provide long-term efficiency gains.
Mixquip’s Series 50 range of stainless-steel clamp-on
agitators are fitted with waterproof all-stainless drives
with a rating of IP66. This makes them waterproof
against hose-directed water, meaning no time-
consuming dismantling is required for your facility’s washdown operations.
It allows 30 degrees of movement in two planes so the agitator can be positioned to get the exact mixing and blending action required. A choice of drives provides customised mixing for all viscosities, with direct, gear or variable speed drive models available.
The portable agitators are easily fitted to open-top tanks up to 8000 litres. They can help reduce power consumption by returning as much as 65 per cent more agitation per kilowatt compared to conventional agitator units.
Designed and made in Australia by Teralba Industries, Mixquip all stainless clamp-an agitators are typically made to order in less than two weeks.

   THE NEXT-GENERATION OF COMPRESSORS
The drive towards efficiency, reliability and – most importantly – energy savings and sustainable usage of resources, increasingly compels developers and users to optimise existing compressed air solutions ever further. Complex modern air station systems require an organising hand to guide them, which is where master controllers such as the Kaeser Sigma Air Manager 4.0 come into play. By monitoring the individual components and optimally coordinating the interaction between them, these controllers transform the individual ‘players’ into a truly cohesive team that operates reliably and efficiently.
The very latest controllers are true management systems which act like master controllers yet are capable of much more. They gather information regarding the connected components and measurement points via ethernet and then transfer data to a centralised control system for evaluation. Management systems additionally monitor all other relevant system parameters, such as the temperature and pressures in the compressor and compressed air treatment system, as well as ambient conditions.
The Sigma Air Manager 4.0 optimises the compressed air supply and requires no additional software to provide valuable cost-monitoring information.
Such management systems not only control the compressors in accordance with compressed air demand, but also monitor the compressed air system, as well as any associated auxiliary systems, for optimum efficiency.
They also offer enhanced data evaluation options, coupled with predictive maintenance, remote monitoring, and life-cycle cost management for improved reliability. All of this leads to significantly reduced operating costs.

    PROBLEM FREE PARTICLE PUMPING
PUMPS are an integral part of many food processing facilities, but care must be taken to select the correct pump for both the product being moved and the process requirements. Physical damage to the product, as well as the influence of factors such as pressure and shear stress must all be considered. When pumping large solid items such as fruit and vegetables, these challenges become even greater.
HRS’ BP Series of hygienic
reciprocating, positive-displacement pumps are suitable for a wide range of difficult to handle food products including whole peppers, strawberries, and baby carrots, as well as sauces, dips, and fruit purées.
The standard BP Series has an adjustable flow rate of between a minimum of 200 litres/hour and a maximum of 12,000 litres/ hour, and features a high pressure drop of up to 30 bar. It is suitable for a wide range of high viscosity, shear sensitive and large particle-containing fluids. Clap valves allow pumping of whole fruits or vegetables, and an alternative piston pump with a pneumatic cylinder can be supplied for low
pressure applications of less than 5 bar.
Three additional models have been added to
the BP Series: the skid-mounted mobile BPM Series; the BPSC Series for highly viscous products; and the horizontal BPH Series.
AIR KNIVES TO BLOWOFF AND COOL DOWN
EXAIR’S Air Knives are an efficient and highly effective tool for blowoff, cooling, cleaning, and drying in myriad manufacturing processes. For the wide variety of problems manufacturers face, Exair can customise and tailor Air Knives from size, to shape, material, custom mounting holes
and dimensions to solve distinct manufacturing problems not already resolved by the industry’s largest selection of Air Knives. For customers with space limitations, smaller lengths or skinnier profiles can be created.
In situations where the knife may need to be installed in a very defined spot, special mounting brackets, or additional/ custom sized air inlets can be provided to fit a current system. For applications where stock aluminium, stainless steel or PVDF won’t work, other material options such as CPVC or glass filled PEEK thermoplastic have been used. Special marking requirements for tying knives to specific machines or critical processes can be accommodated.
Unique shapes and profiles, such as double sided or curved Air Knives, can solve certain specialised processes. For help solving any specific blowoff problems, please contact Compressed Air Australia.
