Lights, camera, action... and connection
THE organisation of a trade show is not dissimilar to that of a theatrical production. A stage is set with light- ing and props, actors prepped, rehearsals undertaken until finally, the performance is ready for the audience to enjoy.
The recent PacPrint felt like this to me. Bump in at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the day before the show saw the arrival of machinery and tech, stands perfected, exhibitors ready, and then (cue drumroll), suddenly the expo was open and the industry was finally together again.
We’ve all waited a long time for this occasion. Five years, in fact. And while feedback from show organiser Visual Connections indi- cated that current difficulties in keeping a workforce up and running meant that many did not bring their

As with AUSPACK show in May, PacPrint was worth the five-year wait, and set the stage for face-to- face connection.
