KP’s Tray2Tray initiative gains momentum
KLOCKNER
Pentaplast (KP) is
marking the second
year of its award
winning KP
Tray2Tray initiative,
which works towards creating a closed loop for food packaging. The initiative, which aims to create a closed loop for food packaging, has already been adopted at several of KP’s sites, where Tray2Tray PET flake is now used to produce trays and rigid films.
With a strong global presence, KP is working to implement Tray2Tray in its operations at every site.
Its pilot site in Pravia, Spain is already using up to 30 per cent Tray2Tray flake in a range of its thermoformed products for protein – with qualified certifications from RecyClass.
Another five sites in the UK, Portugal, Spain and Germany are producing rigid films for form, fill and seal applications using Tray2Tray as part of their extrusion processes, with sister site INFIA also incorporating it into its processes and producing fruit punnets.

Green light for UPM Raflatac’s CarbonNeutral portfolio
UPM Raflatac has extended its CarbonNeutral product portfolio by achieving product certification for its entire linerless product range, issued by Natural Capital Partners, in accordance with the CarbonNeutral Protocol.
UPM said that direct thermal linerless labelling products help customers to reduce their packaging footprint, and are in high demand in the packaging value chain. According to UPM, sustainability and efficiency benefits of using linerless are significant, as linerless brings up to a 40 per cent reduction in material usage, compared to traditional labelling technologies.
The linerless products’ cradle-to-customer greenhouse gas emissions are compensated in full through global projects, which are verified to internationally recognised standards, such as the Gold Standard.
