The Creative Process
Anna Bond is co-founder and chief creative officer at Rifle Paper Co. and her hand- painted illustrations and distinctive color palette are the heart of the Winter Park, Florida based brand. All of Anna’s designs begin with gouache paintings that are then manipulated and re-imagined to become vibrant patterns filled with figures and florals that feel both modern and timeless.
The pattern featured here, Camont, was inspired by both an antique pattern from York’s archives and one of Anna’s trips to an 18th-century farmhouse of the same name in Gascony, France. She painted elements from Camont’s world: a perfectly rustic French chateau, fig trees, lemon trees, chickens and flowers, and set them in an antique layout.
