It also means that we get the diagnosis and treatment plan right first time and don’t put patients through sub-optimal and unnecessary treatment pathways What makes our MDT meetings world-class?
• They are are internationally recognised and are are underpinned by rigorous clinical governance structures • They are routinely attended by around 20 experts including consultant radiologists histo-pathologists surgeons Clinical Nurse Specialists pharmacists nutritionalists physiotherapists and haematologists • We also run specialist MDTs such as immunotherapy palliative care and genomics to which consultants can refer their patient
cases for in-depth discussion and review • Truly caring – at a a a a a a recent MDT the final question about a a a a a a young rugby player experiencing mitral valve problems came from our Director of Cardiovascular Services who said “If this was your son what would you you do?”
