Veterans Information
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs offers many funeral honors for deceased veterans and benefit programs that are available to a surviving spouse, dependent children, and parents of eligible Veterans.
Our funeral home can assist in making arrangements for military funeral honors by an honor guard of two or more members of the Veterans Service Branch. These honors can include folding and presenting the United States flag, salute by a firing squad, and a bugler to play Taps. We will help you obtain a burial or memorial flag and also prepare your application for a veterans cemetery headstone, flat marker, monument medallion, and/or Presidential memorial certificate.
In addition to funeral honors, eligible survivors may benefit from VA burial allowances. These flat-rate monetary benefits help cover eligible Veterans’ burial and funeral costs. Generally, they are paid at the maximum amount allowed by law. We will help prepare your application and collection of required documents, including: certified death certificate, Veteran's forms, discharge papers, and a paid receipt of the funeral arrangements. If you qualify for benefits, further forms will be sent to you by the Veteran's Administration.
A claim for a non-service-connected burial allowance must be filed with the VA within 2 years after the date of the veteran’s burial or cremation.
