where do i start weaving
Right here with this table loom and hand picked KOEL materials, including a guide in plain English how to warp (set up) your loom and construct your first woven piece. It’s true, you will have to learn a new language and get familiar with yarn crafters’ jargon, but rest assured that many have gone before you so there’s a good chance you will master this lingo too! Don’t
forget that yarn crafting and especially weaving is pretty much baked into our genetic fabric (remember our crafty prehistoric ancestors) and quite likely you are a natural at this. You’re just a little out of practice, that’s all...
Let’s throw in some basic terminology - there are four weaving techniques that are a low threshold entry into weaving, but we suggest you kick off with “tabby” which simply is plain weaving, from left to right. With tabby on your side (and perhaps one or two other techniques) you will be able to construct some very fancy looking designs. Trial and error is the only way to go. If you get stuck, help is underway from your new yarn buddies around the globe - there’s really a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips, so browse around to find the tutorials that you like and exchange tricks of the trade! -x-
