Heard the expression “I eat cake because it’s somebody’s birthday somewhere?” Well, we have. With the official launch of KOEL Magazine comes a party and, of course, a celebratory cake! Enter the beetroot, lime and mint cake.
This dense cake packs a punch with its tangy and minty flavours. An ideal dessert for any party, whether a birthday or house warming this lovely time of year. We suggest you gather family and friends like we have, and indulge yourselves in this hearty cake. You will be back for more. Nothing complements this glorious cake better than an assortment of seasonal fruits and decorative flora.
As with all great parties, there’s bound to be wonderful images accompanying it. If you’re a lover of good food photography, or have been following us on Instagram long enough, then you’re no stranger to Trisha Toh. The Kuala Lumpur-based food stylist has a knack for turning just about every dish laid in front of her into a captivating photo, leaving you salivating and inspired all at once. Growing up in a family that appreciates good and honest food, there’s no surprise that food has been at the heart of Trisha’s career. Whether you’re just starting out on your yarn crafting journey, or looking to try your hand at food styling, Trisha has just one advice for you: practice. While a little bit of talent does help, “practice is key while constantly reminding yourself of your passion.” As for taking a beautiful food shot, Trisha tells us her three most important ingredients: “lighting, storytelling and relevancy.”
The colors and textures of our cake were perfectly captured by Trisha, who helped kick off the KOEL launch party. Trisha's party advice? “A simple yet lively theme party at home. With bubbly on the side please.” We’ll toast to that! -x-
