Crochet can be done with just about any type of yarn: cotton, mohair, linen or hemp. The possibilities are endless. Regardless of the yarn you use, crochet has one particular forte: it produces fabrics that are firm, creating a very textural look and feel. This makes it ideal for pieces like baskets and planters that usually require a more robust structure. It’s the perfect craft to create unique home accessories.
We used the KOEL showroom in Singapore as our playground and tried our hand at creating these crochet-stills. Starting with literally an empty space (we moved all clutter and distractions outside on the pavement), we added items back one by one, carefully mixing yarns with greens. Working with plants, yarns and interior accessories — life’s good indeed.
Crochet baskets or planters offer a gentle touch to a space, creating that cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Especially for minimalistic interiors, a touch of crochet can add some much needed softness to what otherwise might be an icy room. Pick from warm tones of the jute and twine, or if you prefer, opt for cooler shades like gray soft cotton. The wonderful thing about these neutrals we find their flexibility — you can spruce up any room in no time at all by adding a handful of these yarn designs.
Not hooked enough? Get your hands working on this crochet basket in the See-The-Pattern booklet. When you’re done, there is more crochet goodness coming your way online where we’ve posted the patterns for a series of mini baskets that require a more gentle touch of the needle and a keen eye for detail. We are not letting you off the hook that easily! -x-
