Make a slip knot on your hook. With the slip knot make a foundation chain of 12. Join the chain with a slip stich in the first single chain.

Round 1: Work 12 slip stitches in base ring.
Round 2: Chain 1, work *[2 slip stitches in next chain, 1 slip stitch in next chain] repeat * until end, join with slip stitch in first chain. You now have 24 stitches.
Round 3: Chain 2, work 1 double crochet in first chain. *[Chain 2, skip first chain, work 1 double crochet in next chain] repeat * until end, join with slip stitch in first chain. You now have 30 stitches.
Round 4: Chain 2, work 1 double crochet in first chain. *[Chain 1, skip first chain, work 1 double crochet in next chain] repeat * until end, join with slip stitch in first chain. You now have 30 stitches.
