  Mommy I love you
more than
My three-year-old son loved McDonald’s cheeseburgers. He loved them so much, that every time we went on an outing he insisted we stop to get not one,
but two cheeseburgers. He would devour them as if he hadn’t eaten in days!
He had a specific M.O.C.; Method of Consumption. The burger was held in his tiny left hand and the paper wrapper ripped off with the other
and tossed in to the air. While the paper was littering the floor, the left hand shoved the bun in to his mouth. The right hand quickly joined the left. He chewed the first bite like he was racing in the Kentucky Derby
of Cheeseburger Eating. He would pull the cheeseburger away from his mouth; hold directly in front of him rotating the sandwich 360 degrees searching for the prime spot he would take his next bite. Before the first bite
was swallowed, he would turn the burger to the pre-determined spot and greedily sink his teeth into it.
His feast was almost a musical affair accompanied by the tune of “mmm chomp chomp, mmm, chomp chomp,” playing throughout the entire concert. Then it became a one-hand- band. With his right hand, palm wide open, he squashed the last remaining piece into his mouth while the rhythm slowed to a crawl. He now savored the last bite, eyes closed, head lifted to
the heavens. Finishing, he wiped his mouth with his sleeve that revealed
an easy, contented grin. His sigh was released like the final chord in a symphony.
After a full day of work, I decided
to surprise my little boy with his favorite treat. When I handed him the McDonald’s bag, he dove into
the cheeseburgers with his signature M.O.C. He smacked his lips, giggled with delight, snuggled up to me and squealed,“Mommy I love you more than cheeseburgers.” What are the “cheeseburger” moments in your life?
