1 in 4 teens globally reported suicidal thoughts with 4 countries reporting rates of 1 in 3 or greater. 7% of teens (1 in 14) globally reported a suicide attempt within the past three months with 4 countries reporting rates greater than 1 in 10. In our study, suicide attempts were observed to trend with age, being highest among younger teens and lowest among older teens. Please Note: It is important to remember that this data is self-reported by teens, not drawn from hospital records or country incident reporting which in many cases forms the basis of other research studies on this topic.
