To answer that question, we rewind time back to early Saturday morning as Roczen qualified 3rd behind Tomac and Canard. 3rd in qualifying may not sound noteworthy but with Dungey back in
7th, momentum can make a difference. Using that energy into the night races, Kenny took the benefit of Dungey going down in turn two and used his 2nd place start in heat two to rocket out front. Making relatively quick work of Brayton, passing him after the finish of lap one by absolutely railing the berm underneath the #10, Roczen never looked back. Dungey, with the setback, was forced to qualify out of a semi, so heading into the main event—Roczen seemed to have the upper hand. As the main event started, mouths began to salivate at the treat of having both Roczen and Dungey out front, alone, from the very first turn.
