UNDS DOWN...
Some say that the real series doesn’t start until the racing moves east -- in that case, High Point would be the first to truly test the mettle of the title combatants in both the 250 and 450 classes. Un- fortunately, the war of attrition that has been the 2018 season claimed another victim in the form of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne, ending his 2018 Pro Motocross campaign with a torn labrum suffered at Thunder Valley. Although the 250 class is stacked with talent, the exit of Osborne from the title chase shifted equal parts responsibility onto the backs of Jeremy Martin and Aaron Plessinger. It was incredibly evident at High Point as both of the main contenders rose to the occa- sion, battling at the front of the field in both motos. It was an exceptional day for the Star Racing Ya- maha team as both Plessinger and rookie sensation, Justin Cooper, ended up on the overall podium. Dylan Ferrandis was back in action for the first time since his horrific crash at the Atlanta SX, collect- ing a third place in the second moto that awarded him with fourth overall. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner was in the mix for the first time this season as well, regularly battling at the front of the pack in both motos in order to secure his first overall podium of the year. The Missou- rian had a rocky start to the season, but he rebounded in a big way at High Point, showing the same speed that touted him as one of the hottest prospects in motocross at the end of his rookie season.
