Every weekend Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has the capability to demolish the field. The #3 bucked around looking uncomfortable to a 3rd place finish in the heat. The scramble to find better settings was in full force in the pits to get ready to wage war in
the main. With quick passes Tomac went from 7th to 3rd by lap 8th
and was looking poised to move upwards toward the lead. Looking like a different rider from the heat race he challenged Factory Yama- ha’s Chad Reed for second place. The pass almost seemed inevitable until lap by lap he found himself just a step behind 2nd place Reed. On the last lap while closing in for the pass on Reed, Tomac washed out in a simple bowl turn. He was able to get up quickly, but not in time for RCH Suzuki’s Ken Roczen to sneak into the last podium posi- tion. Although respectable, the 4th place finish was not where Tomac wanted to be.
