>> 2018 marks Michael Mosiman’s rst full season as a professional. Last year he of cially debuted at Hangtown and performed well with a fourteenth overall nish. He stepped things up a notch by nishing inside the top ten at the next two rounds with eighth and tenth overall nishes respectively. He was quietly making a name for himself but an injury at round four at High Point would end his season. Mosiman returned to racing a couple of rounds into the 250SX East Coast Championship series at Atlanta but he would struggle racing under the lights. He only nished with one top ten and failed
to qualify at the East West Shootout in Indianapolis. He was excited to have clean slate outdoors and so far, he has enjoyed slightly more success. He has irted with the top ten overall at nearly every round and only has one nish worse than a thirteenth so head- ing into Southwick, he was looking to nd some momentum to carry into the second half of the season. Mosiman put forth one of his better qualifying practice performances of the season to start his day. The rider hailing from California was a long way from home in the sands of Massachusetts, but he seemed to be tting in quite well. He ended up with the eighth fastest lap time of the class and was eager to see what he could do with it come race time. Mosiman suffered an abysmal start in the rst moto of the day. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider started the moto buried in twenty- rst position. He would then spend the remainder of the moto eating sand from the riders ahead of him. He put together a nice little charge to thirteenth by the halfway point and would keep it going into the second half of the moto. He’d end up claiming three more victims before it was all said and done to nish the moto in tenth place. It was an impressive ride coming from outside the top twenty. Moto two started off slightly better for Mosiman. He started out in fteenth place this time and quickly snuck up to thirteenth on lap two. He stayed there for the next few laps trying to work on passing Challen Tennant but a crash on lap ve would send him back to eighteenth. This bogged down Mosiman’s charge as the grit and one-hundred-degree heat index made its presence known as he remounted his ma- chine. He got back going again and would actually nd his rhythm again and ride well. He fought hard all the way to the checkered ag nishing up in eleventh place. Mosiman fought valiantly in both motos while coming from behind and he was rewarded with a tenth overall nish with 10-11 moto scores. It was his rst top ten nish of the season and he will certainly look for more of those in the second half of the season.
